Imphal, March 17 2026: An executive committee meeting of the Film Forum Manipur has resolved to refrain from extending its support to the 3rd North East India Film Festival (NEIFF) 2026 slated to be held on March 21 and 22 .

According to a press release issued by Film Forum Manipur, the film festival is sponsored by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India and National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and jointly organised by Directorate of Information & Public Relations, All Manipur Film Producer Association and THOUNA, Manipur.

It is worth noting that Film Forum Manipur is an apex body of Manipur film industry comprising 12 associations/guilds.

The 1 st and 2nd edition of NEIFF held in 2024 and 2025 had been organised by THOUNA, Manipur in collaboration with the Forum.

According to the press release, THOUNA, Manipur did not inform the Forum about the upcoming NEIFF 2026.In protest, Film Forum has resolved to refrain from extending any support to NEIFF 2026 .
