Imphal, January 17 2026: A significant development has taken place in the Public Works Department (PWD), as Chief Engineer Chongtham Biswachandra Singh has launched an initiative to include EPF and ESIC benefits for MR/Casual and contract employees under the Social Security Code (Labour Code-2020).As per a release issued by the Manipur PWD Employees & Workers Association, this move is expected to bring relief to employees who have been deprived of social security benefits for decades.

The initiative, hailed as a "priceless gift" by the Association, aims to provide social security coverage to employees who were previously excluded from such benefits.

The Association has also appealed to all employees to cooperate and submit their necessary documents (PAN card, Aadhar card, and passport photographs) promptly to the Association's office to avail of these benefits.
