Imphal, December 16 2024: In a heartfelt tribute to the valour and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces, the Assam Rifles organised a celebration to mark the 53rd anniversary of Vijay Diwas today at Imphal East and Tengnoupal districts of Manipur.

According to a release issued by IGAR (South), this significant day commemorates the decisive victory of India during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

The war showcased the strategic brilliance, bravery, and resolve of The Indian Armed Forces which ultimately led to the creation of Bangladesh marked by the historic surrender of over 93,000 Pakistani soldiers, one of the largest military surrenders in history.

At Imphal East, the event, held with great fervour and enthusiasm, was attended by over 150 participants, including Assam Rifles personnel and civilians from various localities of the region.

The gathering came together to pay homage to the courageous soldiers who displayed exceptional bravery and determination during the 1971 war.

The day was marked with solemn ceremonies, including wreath-laying at memorials, cultural performances and sharing of inspiring stories of sacrifice and bravery.

These acts served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces in securing peace and safeguarding the nation's sovereignty, said the IGAR (S).

The celebrations highlighted the unwavering commitment of the Indian Armed Forces and the deep sense of patriotism and brotherhood that binds the people of India.

The event emphasized the collective goal of national integrity and the importance of fostering unity among citizens, while honouring the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

At TM Zoumunnuam village, Tengnoupal District, Assam Rifles organised a lecture on "Vijay Diwas" for an enthusiastic gathering of 58 villagers, including 18 men, 16 women, and 24 children.

The lecture emphasized the historical importance of Vijay Diwas, honouring the sacrifices of soldiers who defended the nation's integrity and sovereignty.

It aimed to inspire patriotism and raise awareness within the community about this significant event in India's history.

The day's proceedings also included interactive sessions and discussions, providing an opportunity for the younger generation to connect with the rich legacy of the Indian Armed Forces, while reaffirming their commitment to the values of patriotism, integrity, and selfless service.

"Vijay Diwas" is not just a day to celebrate victory; it is a day to reflect on the supreme sacrifices made by our soldiers, who fought valiantly to protect our freedom and territorial integrity.

The celebrations in Manipur served as a powerful reminder of the significance of unity and strength in achieving national goals, and the indelible role played by the Armed Forces in shaping India's proud history, added the IGAR (South).

Meanwhile, Indian Army also commemorated the 53d anniversary of Vijay Diwas on 16 December 2024 with flag hoisting ceremonies and tree plantation drives in Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts of Manipur.

This day marks the historic victory of our country in the 1971 Indo-Pak War.

Flag Hoisting was organised at Hautak in Bishnupur district and at Siden in Churachandpur district.

Locals and school students participated in the event with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.

A drawing competition was organised at Beersheba Foundation school at Terakhong in Bishnupur district on the theme of Vijay Diwas.

The event concluded with the national anthem saluting the gal lant heroes.

At Maulphai Tampak in Churachandpur district, tree plantation drive was organized in collaboration with local villagers, where 50 saplings were planted, added the PIB (Defence Wing) .
