Lions Clubs observe Vision Service Week with awareness camps

Imphal, October 16 2026: As part of Vision Service Week observed from October 8 to 18, Lions Club of Imphal Chanu, Lions Club of Imphal Global, Lions Club of Imphal Ningol Collective and Lions Club of Imphal Paradise jointly organised health awareness and service activities at Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School.

A Cervical Cancer Awareness Programme was held for around 200 students and staff.

Resource person Dr Elangbam James spoke on causes, risk factors, warning signs, prevention, HPV vaccination, regular screening and importance of early detection, besides addressing myths and social stigma.

A Breast Cancer Awareness session was also conducted focusing on breast self-examination, warning signs, screening, early detection, myths, treatment and support.

On October 16, a free eye awareness and check-up camp was held at the school.

Led by Dr Binata Potshangbam's team with technical support from Yaima Eye Hospital, around 300 students and staff benefited from eye-health awareness, basic check-ups and vision screening.
