AR, Army celebrate I-Day with local communities

Apart from distributing the National Flag 'Tiranga' and organising various events to promote the 'Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyaan' in the run-up to the 78th Independence Day, Assam Rifles of IGAR (S) joined hands with local communities in celebrating the Independence Day across the state imbibing the slogan 'United under Tiranga'.
According to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S), the celebrations emphasised the connection! between local communities and the Assam Rifles', uniting the villagers, youth and the children along with Assam Rifles personnel in a collective tribute to the nation.
The celebration organised at multiple locations in all the districts with proactive involvement of the locals, including young students as well as elderlies, was marked by flag hoist-' ing, 'Run for Tiranga', salute to the national flag, presentation of patriotic songs and tribal dances, distribution of sweets and refreshments, conduct of cultural programmes and friendly matches, march past parades, screening of patriotic movies, etc.
The events fostered camaraderie between the Assam Rifles and the local communities, strengthened the patriotic spirit among the communities, reinforced values of unity, diversity, and national pride.
Indian Army also celebrated the 78th Independence Day across Imphal East, Senapati, Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts on Thursday.
Flag hoisting, reciting the national anthem, singing patriotic songs, exchanging greetings, goodies and sweets marked the day with patriotic fervour.
Residents and people from IDP camps attended the celebrations alongside Army personnel with great excitement, informed PRO Defence, adding that medical camps were also organised to provide essential medical treatment to over 250 residents of the Moirang relief camp and orphanages at Yainganpokpi in Imphal East district.
At the Leimakhog Military Station, Red Shield GOC Maj Gen SS Kartikeya honoured 93 conservancy staffers to recognise and appreciate their invaluable contribution in maintaining the greenery of the station.
Also, the station commander hoisted the national flag at KV and Army Pre-Primary School, it added.
