Ukhrul gears up for 46th Naga Republic Day

Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) is gearing up to celebrate the 46th Naga Republic Day in collaboration with Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) on March 21 in Ukhrul district headquarters.
In a statement, TKS general secretary PS Ningthingmaya stated: "Today, as we reflect on all the past leaders and martyrs on whose sacrifices we now stand, the Saklong salutes the visionary wisdom, contribution and sacrifices of our forefathers and to all those who have played a vital role in carrying forward the noble aspirations of the Naga people" .
Recalling the sacrifices of the Naga nationalists, he said "We, being a Naga, represent the voice and the consciousness of a generation that have witnessed so many decades of violence and conflicts.
We must be committed and ready to sacrifice and go the extra mile to achieve our vision for a better Naga future" .
He also referred to the present Naga generation as one which has been tempered by war, beaten and discriminated.
"In the light of all these conducts by our adversaries, the Saklong is stimulated to celebrate the forthcoming Republic Day in the district headquarters," said Ningthingmaya, while appealing for public participation to honour and stand in solidarity on the historic occasion.
Meanwhile, the apex Tangkhul students' body, in a separate notification, informed the public that in view of the upcoming celebration, all educational institutions within the jurisdiction of TKS will remain closed and all market/business establishments in the district headquarters will also remain shut from 9:30 am to 2 pm on March 21 .
