Supply water or we will shut project: Waithou locals

Thoubal, August 11 2024: The Waithou Water Supply Project will be shut if it doesn't provide drinking water to villages in peripheries by September, said Waithou Educated Youth Association (WEYA) .

The construction of the Waithou Water Supply Project was completed in 2020 and started functioning in 2022.While the project is providing water to several areas in Thoubal district, it has not yet provided water to several villages in the peripheries that include Waithou Tronglaobi, Waithou Bazar, Waithou Khongnang Kachin, Waithou Lipokpi Laimang Konjil and Waithou Sangomsang.

The locals and even the local MLA have made repeated appeals for the project to supply water to the villages.

However, these appeals have not been heard till today, sa^d WEYA.

If the villages are not covered by the project by September, then the locals may be forced to shut the project, it said.
