KMC caretaker chairman junks KBBWA's charges

Imphal, April 09 2023: While dismissing the allegations levelled against him by Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association (KBBWA) and Senior Citizens' Forum, Kakching as baseless, Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) caretaker chairperson Naorem Sanjitkumar said locking down of KMC office was unwarranted and lacks justification.

Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Sunday, Sanjitkumar asserted that the action of KBBWA and Senior Citizens' Forum was unreasonable and sectarian in nature and informed that some people who identified themselves as members of KBBWA and Senior Citizens' Forum came on April 5 and illegally locked down the office of KMC while levelling various unfounded and baseless allegations.

He further informed that those who came to lock the KMC office did not listened to the plea of the caretaker chairperson, caretaker councillors and staff to clarify the reason for their act.

KBBWA and Senior Citizens' Forum are organisations formed for the welfare of the people' ifritl1 to develop the economy of the land but their act shows they are working under the influence of some individuals and groups, he said, while adding that the court case filed by three members of Senior Citizens' Forum has disabled all works of the council and has caused serious inconvenience to the public.

Naorem Sanjitkumar informed that the tender for parking fee and toll tax fee collection was given to KBBWA for the financial year 2023-24.However, KBBWA requested the KMC to carry out activities by defying all the rules and regulations of the council to which KMC did not accept.

He also clarified that no funds of 15th finance commission had been misused or utilised hastily by caretaker chairperson and caretaker councillors and no work executed without floating tenders.

Sanjitkumar also pointed out that the repairing/ renovation work done by one of the family members of Senior Citizens' Forum president after getting the tender was halted following poor quality of the work executed.

The payment for the work was also halted for some time.

He appealed to KBBWA and Senior Citizens' Forum to share constructive sug-gestionfcto the council for the welfare arid common good of the people and the KMC, which is among the best municipalities in the state, will make sure to live up to the expectation of the people.
