MHGEWA urges Government to fulfil demands by Sept 21

Imphal, August 08 2026: The Manipur Home Guard Employees Welfare Association (MHGEWA) has urged the Government to implement the resolutions adopted by its Managing Committee and Special General Body Meeting for the welfare of Home Guards in the State by September 21.Addressing media persons at the association office at Luwangsangbam today, MHGEWA president Y Mangi Singh said demands have been repeatedly brought to the notice of the Government for implementation but have not been acted upon till date.

He said memorandums have again been submitted to the Chief Minister and Home Minister, with a deadline to fulfil the demands by September 21 this year.

He expressed hope that the Government will implement the demands and appealed to all Home Guard personnel to join the various steps being taken up for their welfare.

He also informed that a Special General Body meeting of the association will be held on August 30, where future course of action will be discussed, and appealed to all personnel to attend without fail.

The demands include finalisation of seniority list, framing of promotion rules, DA at par with police constables, ration money, appointment of a separate Commandant General for Home Guards, enhancement of retirement age from 62 to 65 years and filling up of vacant posts of Home Guards.
