Khwairamband mothers adopt peace resolutions

Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace, Manipur commemorated its first foundation day on the theme of 'Stop violence in Manipur, let peace come' at Aryan Theatre, Wahengbam Leikai, here, on Saturday.
During the programme, various resolutions were adopted.
They included the government to see to the resettlement of displaced people at their original places; for the central and state governments to talk with the Kukis and restore normalcy in Manipur; deployment of additional security forces (CDOs) in Jiribam to take the situation under control and apprehend all culprits while awarding them befitting punishments in timely manner; taking action to protect the state's territorial integrity; and to put the resolutions into action at the earliest, failing which the mothers will launched intense agitations.
Speaking at the occasion, Committee co-convenor Laishram Mema stated that the mothers of this land do not want any war or conflict but restoration of peace and normalcy in the state.
As such, the government must bring an effective solution to end the crisis, she urged.
She continued that after a brief period of peace, tensions have now erupted in Jiribam.
Instead of evacuating the Meeteis from their houses, additional security forces should be deployed to safeguard the villages, she asserted.
The programme was also attended by other members of the Committee along with representatives of many CSOs.
