Thieves attack chowkidar, public thrash thief

A watchman (chowkidar) was assaulted by a gang of thieves, while a thief attempting to steal a vehicle was thrashed by public in separate incidents that occurred on Thursday and Friday.
According to reports, a gang of thieves attempting to steal items from the solid waste management treatment plant of Kakching Municipal Council around 10.30 pm Thursday, used logs and knives in attacking the plant's chowkidar identified as Mayanglambam Rajeshwar (40) s/o Rajen of Kakching Paji Leikai.
With a stab wound on the side on his abdomen and bruises over his bodies, Rajeswhar rushed to Kakching District Hospital and discharged later as the nature of the injuries were ruled as non-fatal.
As per Rajeshwar's accounts, around four unidentified men arrived at the plant and attempted to steal some items when they were spotted by him.
As the thieves started to attack, he, somehow, escaped from their clutches and fired few rounds from his double barrel gun inflicting injuries on one of the individuals on the leg.
After seeing the caretaker armed, all four fled from the area.
This is not the first time the plant has been targeted by thieves.
In connection with the incident, a complaint has been filed at Kakching police, which has begun investigation, the report conveyed.
On the other hand, a man who was attempting to lift a vehicle from JNIMS Hospital around 11.30 pm Friday was rounded up and thrashed by the public.
The alleged thief has been identified as Phundreimayum Danish (18) s/o Garim of Lilong Mayai Leikai.
He has been admitted to JNIMS hospital due to injuries in the thrashing.
