11th State Level Yoga Olympiad kicks off

Imphal, May 07 2026: The 11th State Level Yoga Olympiad 2025, organised by the Directorate of Education (S), Government of Manipur, officially commenced today at the Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium, Imphal.

The three-day event aims to promote physical wellness and identify talent for national competitions.

The opening ceremony was graced by dignitaries, including Senior Administrative Officer Soraisham David Singh, Additional Director (S/Hills) Dangmei Manglem, and Physical Education Promotion Officer (Yoga) Dr LW Ananta of the Education (S) Department.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr LW Ananta said 18 participants, including officials, from each of the State's 17 zones are taking part in the contest.

He said the state-level meet is a selection trial for national yoga contests organised by NCERT to mark International Yoga Day.

Winners will represent Manipur.

Fourteen districts have responded so far, he said, adding that final selections will be based on performance over the three-day meet.
