CCPur, June 02 2025: Union Home secretary Govind Mohan and Intelligence Bureau (IB) director Tapan Deka Kumar on Monday visited two relief centres which are housing the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Churachandpur district apart from inaugurating various facilities for the displaced persons The central duo was accompanied by civil and security officials of the state.

On reaching the district, the officials first went to the relief centre set up at the Dorcas locality community hall where Govind Mohan inaugurated a Women's Tailoring Centre, established under RSETI, a creche facility and the Wall of Hope.

They also visited stalls set up by residents of the relief centre and assessed condition of the partitioned rooms of the IDPs, followed by presentation of traditional shawls, gifts and songs by the children.

The central officials also presented certificates and token gifts to IDP students who excelled in various examinations.

Those felicitated include 15 students from the two camps who passed the HSLC and Higher Secondary Examinations 2025, five from Dorcas Veng and 10 from Sadhbhavna Mandap.

Certificates of appreciation were presented by the Union Home Secretary.

Additionally, Class I and Class III toppers from each camp were recognised and awarded for their academic excellence.

At Sadbhavna Mandap relief centre, the home secretary inaugurated another tailoring centre, creche facility, Wall of hopes and inspected stalls displaying various handicraft products made by resident of the relief centre.

Earlier in the day, the central officials landed at the 36 Assam Rifles Helipad, Headquarters Veng.

At both camps, the officials interacted with IDPs, inspected relief infrastructure and materials, and assessed the overall living conditions.

They also engaged with caretakers, listened to their concerns and suggestions, and assured them of the government's continued commitment to relief and rehabilitation efforts.
