Water supply suspended in Singjamei areas

Imphal, March 02 2026: The Office of the Water Supply Maintenance Division No 2, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Manipur, has announced a temporary suspension of water supply to several areas in Singjamei.

The suspension is necessary due to ongoing maintenance works and the shifting of an intake pipeline from the Imphal River.

According to an appeal issued by M Sonamani Singh, Executive Engineer of the W/S Maintenance Division No 2, the pipeline needs to be shifted to accommodate the construction of an RCC retaining wall along the riverbank, a project undertaken by the Water Resources Department.

The affected areas are those under the Singjamei Water no 17 Water Treatment Plant (WTP), including Singjamei Sapam Leikai, Leisangthem Leikai, Singjamei Oinam Thingel, Singjamei Okram Leikai, Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, Singjamei Waikhom Leikai, and Khongnang Pheidekpi.

The PHED stated that normal water supply will be resumed immediately after the maintenance works are completed, and expressed deep regret for the inconvenience caused to the public.
