Imphal, November 30 2024:
All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), AMOWOVA, Poirei Leimarol, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), and COR are jointly organising a mass rally on December 10 against the violation of human rights by imposing AFSPA in Manipur and the killing of innocent people by Kuki terrorists, allegedly under the instigation of the Government of India.
Addressing a press meet held at the AMUCO office, Kwakeithel, on Saturday in connection with the proposed rally demanding 'No obliteration of Manipur,' 'Self-determination is our birthright,' 'Repeal AFSPA,' and 'Take action against women and children-killing terrorists,' the spokesperson of the five bodies, Phulindro Konsam, stated that December 10 is observed as International Human Rights Day worldwide, but in Manipur, human rights have been suppressed by security forces and non-state actors.
He continued that the rally is being organised in view of Kuki militants indulging in acts of terrorism, including the murder of women and children, and the re-imposition of AFSPA in the valley districts, which will have a significant impact on the future of the coming generations of the state.
Appealing to all to attend the rally, Phulindro stated that a public meeting will also be held to pass a resolution on the ongoing crisis, which will then be forwarded to the Government of India and international organisations working on the protection of human rights.
He also informed that before the rally, a discussion programme on the imposition of AFSPA and human rights violations in the state will be held on December 6 at the Manipur University auditorium.
