Imphal, July 30 2025: The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary of Tribal Affairs and Hills, requesting prompt notification to invite eligible tribal candidates from Manipur to apply for the Chairperson position of the Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribes (MSCST) .

TYCM, in a statement, stated that the three-year tenure of the Chairperson of the MSCST has expired, and without a Chairperson, the Commission is unable to function effectively, hindering its ability to serve the State's tribal communities.

MSCST is a vital institution for the tribal communities, responsible for monitoring and formulating policies related to the safeguards, rights, and interests of Scheduled Tribes as enshrined in the Constitution, it added.
