Awareness programme on Sparsh Leprosy held

As part of the fortnight awareness campaign on Sparsh Leprosy which is held across the country, the District Health Society Thoubal in collaboration with National Leprosy Eradication Programme, Thoubal organised a Sparsh Leprosy Awareness cum Anti Leprosy fortnight today at Tentha Khongbal Multiplex.
The programme was graced by CMO Thoubal, Dr Y Nokul as chief guest, former ward member of Tentha GP, M Boicha as president and District TB Officer, Dr M Nomita Devi and Leprosy Supervisor, Samu Singh as guests of honour.
As part of the programme, floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Late Mahatma Gandhi and also distributed blankets to leprosy patients.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Y Nokul stated that World Leprosy Day is observed annually on January 30 to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi's death anniversary who was a strong supporter of the rights and respect for individuals stricken with leprosy.
He also urged the people to join hands and work together to eliminate leprosy in the country.
