Martyrdom Day of Haipou Jadonang observed

The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) observed the 95th Martyrdom Day of Haipou Jadonang today at its Council Headquarters, General Headquarters, Battalions and Tactical Units in Assam, Manipur andNagaland.
As per a release issued by secretary, Information & Publicity, ZUF, Louis Gangmei.
the day was marked with military salute, paying solemn tribute and fighting of candles.
Recalling his sacrifice, ZUF stated that Haipou Jadonang (1905-1931) was hanged to death on August 29, 1931 for resisting British colonial rule in Zeliangrong areas.
His valiant deeds and sacrifices continue to motivate the people, it said.
The Front stated that it is a day of solemn importance for all Zeliangrong kindred to reflect on how their people resisted world power.
ZUF demanded that the Government of India accord due recognition to Haipou Jadonang as one of the freedom fighters of India, stating that Zeliangrong people's contribution to making of free India was not lesser than any other people and it is high time India reciprocates.
