Arms, explosives recovered, 3 UG cadres arrested

Imphal, March 29 2025:
Joint security forces conducted search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, resulting in the recovery of a large cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, and tactical equipment, and arrest of three UG cadres on Friday.
During operations conducted in Naranseina and Sunusiphai village areas under Moirang police station in Bishnupur district, security forces recovered six firearms, 114 ammunition, 12 magazines, and 21 explosives including two IEDs, 23 riot control ammunition, 53 protective gears, and nine other tactical gears.
Security forces also recovered one firearm, 20 live round, 40 empty cases, 13 explosives, seven riot control munition, one protective gear and six other tactical gears from Wabagai buffalo farm areas under Kakching PS in Kakching district.
Another recovery was made from Kamu village, Mapithel Ridge, under Thoubal Dam PS in Imphal East district, where security forces recovered 10 explosives including one cylindrical-shaped IED containing 11 kg of explosives, 33 rounds of ammunition, two optic sights, and four other tactical gears.
Police arrested a cadre of PREPAK from Sekmaijin Mayai Leikai under Hiyanglam PS in Kakching District.
The arrested individual, identified as Hawaibam Ibungo alias Mangi (35) of Sekmaijin Mayai Leikai, was involved in recruiting new members and extorting money from the general public in Kakching district.
On the same day, police also arrested an active cadre of PREPAK-Pro, identified as Pukhrambam Samchand Meetei alias Potshemba (52) of Nathan village, Churachandpur, presently residing in Hiyangthang, Imphal West district.
He was apprehended from Mantripukhri near Manipur Diesel under Heingang PS in Imphal East district.
Additionally, a cadre of KCP (Politburo Standing Committee), identified as Pukhrambam Rohit Singh alias Kakpa (29) of Lamboi Khul Awang Leikai under Sagolmang PS in Imphal East district, was arrested from Khundrakpam Awang Leikai under Heingang PS, Imphal East district.
