Kodom Union condemns assault on SDPO, questions TKS president

Kangpokpi, August 28 2014: The Kodom Union has strongly condemned the incident that happened on August 24 in which SDPO of Ukhrul, Tholu Rocky, MPS, and his driver were brutally assaulted by some educated youths at Dungrei Junction, Ukhrul.

The Union alleged that the manner in which the assault on the SDPO and his driver was carried out was a pre-meditated life attempt as per the report of the fact finding team led by the Chairman, Kodom Union along with the relatives of the SDPO, who personally visited Ukhrul on August 26 .

According to Kodom Union President K.B Solomon, the President of Tangkhul Katamnao Shaklong (TKS) phoned the SDPO that certain Commando personnel were eve-teasing and photographing some women.

Immediately the SDPO phoned his counterpart Commando Officers regarding the matter, Solomon narrated.

However, the SDPO was informed that there were no such reports, continued Solomon while adding that the SDPO along with his driver went to the said spot to establish the truth, but found nobody there.

But as he was about to retreat, some youths who were well educated and well known personalities in the area assaulted the SDPO and his driver, alleged the Union President before adding that one of the assaulters is said to have been recently recruited as Sub-Inspector in Central Police Force while another one is the son of late Wungnaoshang Keishing, former MLA and the other one is the son of a Dy.

The said individuals did not spare even the official Gypsy and destroyed the SDPO's name plate, stated Solomon while adding that the Kodom Union is distressed by the news that was carried by some newspapers over the incident.

Questioning the motives of the TKS leader, the Union added that, at this point of time, the Kodom Union seeks to know why the President, TKS, who phoned the SDPO still remain silent till date.

He even refused to meet the PNTM (Poumai Students' Union) who came all the way to Ukhrul stating that he was in a meeting.

Therefore, his involvement in the incident cannot be ruled out, B.K.Solomon maintained.

Some audacious pervert of truth has even gone to the extent of stating that the SDPO was in an inebriated state.

It is for the information of all that SDPO, Tholu Rocky is the son of Rev..DTholu and is not in the habit of using any alcoholic beverages or other intoxicants ever since his birth, Solomon said.

Further, if not, for the timely arrival of the Police team led by OC, Ukhrul, Timothy, who saved the duo from the clutches of the assaulters, the SDPO and his driver, might have been mercilessly slaughtered on the spot, stated Kodom Union President K.B Solomon.
