Training for displaced women concludes

Imphal, September 27 2026: A five-day free training on dyeing, washing and ironing of traditional handwoven fabrics and attires of Manipur, organised by the Social Development Foundation (SDF) at the Social Welfare, and Development Centre, Merakhong Mapan, Patsoi Part-IV, Imphal West, concluded today.

The training was specially organised for women taking shelter at the relief camp opened at Recent Higher Secondary School, Sagoltongba, following the violence that broke out in the State since May 3, 2023.Altogether, 15 women from the relief camp participated in the training.

SDF Senior Project Manager Bebicha Mangsatabam said the training was organised with the aim of improving the livelihood of displaced women.

If their livelihood improves, it will greatly help in running their families, she added.

She said SDF had earlier provided training on soap and shampoo making and extended possible assistance.

After this training, the Foundation will also extend support for purchase of necessary materials to start their own ventures, said Bebicha.

The training was imparted by Master Trainer Leishangthem Nita of Complete RIDO Forum under Women Action for Development (WAD) .
