If the is to extract the advantages given in Constitution of India, then supporting the Constitution is a must, said justice (retired) Maibam Binoykumar who spoke as chief guest at the observation of "Law Day' today at District and Session Court Complex.
M Binoykumar former executive chairman of the Manipur State Legal Service Authority recalled that the Constitution of India was drafted in a period of three years.
The drafting of the constitution started on November 26, 1949 and has remembered the day as 'Law Day', he said.
The Constitution considered to be supreme of all laws enforced in the country contains the fundamental rights and directive principles of state policies.
The values, ideas and inspiration of this constitution are very high.
But, whether people are enjoying the fundamental rights and directive principals need to be relooked, he observed.
Asserting the great role of the judiciaries in uplifting the Constitution of the country, the former Gauhati High Court judge said that judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts in the country are also taking a main role in process.
The observance function organized by the Manipur State Legal Service Authority (MSLA), Imphal was presided by Ph Surendra, member secretary of the MSLA and Y Priyokumar, general secretary of All Manipur Bar Association attended as guest of honour.
Functional president, Ph Surendra elaborately talk on the activities of MSLA in creating awareness on the free legal service being provided by the authority across the state.
In his speech as guest of honour Y Priyokumar stressed the need for holding the observance function of this day widespread as part of creating awareness to the people by inviting legal historians and legal experts.
