The Sangai Ethnic Park in Moirang has won top honours at the prestigious 2024 Asia Architecture Design Awards (AADA) held in Bangkok.
The award themed "Emerging Asia" celebrates the fusion of tradition and innovation across the continent, highlighting the significant influence Asia has on shaping the world's built environment.
The event honours excellence in architecture and design, showcasing remarkable achievements and innovations within the industry.
Huidrom Design Studio, the firm behind the Sangai Ethnic Park, has been recognised in the category of "Asia's Best Civic Building Architecture Design".
The awards ceremony held at SO/Bangkok in Thailand recently was a night filled with elegance, celebration, and networking opportunities.
Architects, designers, industry professionals, and distinguished guests gathered to applaud the achievements of the award winners and celebrate their significant contributions to the architectural landscape of Asia.
The Asia Architecture Design Awards platform celebrates extraordinary architectural accomplishments across Asia's diverse landscapes, emphasising innovative and visionary designs that are reshaping and defining the built environment in this dynamic region.
The AADA received over 1,500 submissions from various Asian countries, starting in August 2023.The entries underwent a rigorous preliminary selection process, culminating in a shortlist announcement.
The judging panel, consisting of 20 distinguished persons from diverse backgrounds - including design professionals, academics, and influential social advocates from countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Italy, and the UAE - ensured a transparent and thorough evaluation process.
The 2024 AADA included competitive categories like Commercial Building Architecture Design, Best Residential Architecture Design, and Best F&B Interior Design.
This year also introduced a new category: 2024 Asia's Best Conceptual Architecture/Interior Design, which witnessed a surge in entries.
This new category highlights the demand for innovative ideas and the importance of recognising these concepts as foundational steps toward realising future projects.
The winners of the 2024 AADA represent a diverse range of architectural typologies, showcasing the breadth and depth of talent in the industry.
From awe-inspiring skyscrapers to sustainable urban developments, the awarded projects exhibit a harmonious blend of aesthetics, functionality, and environmental consciousness.
Huidrom Design Studio's principal designer Suresh Huidrom emphasised the importance of creating diversity in unity in future architecture.
The recognition of Sangai Ethnic Park is a testimony to the hard-work, dedication, and creativity of the Huidrom Design Studio team.
The park is more than just a physical space; it celebrates Manipur's rich cultural heritage and traditions, offers tourists a chance to immerse themselves in the unique culture, cuisines, traditions, arts and crafts, and village life of different communities in a miniature form.
It serves as an Ethnographic Museum in Manipur.
The team extended heartfelt thanks to the Asia Architecture Design Awards for the honour and expressed gratitude to chief minister N Biren, directorate of tourism, and Manipur Police Housing Corporation Limited for their unwavering support throughout the project.
