Online legal awareness programmes held

District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Chandel organised an online legal awareness programme on schemes related to mitigating hardships of the people affected by Covid-19.During the programme held Monday and attended by DLSA Chandel secretary Lamkholal Kipgen, panel lawyers, PLVs, NGOs and others from the two districts, discussions were held on Chief Minister's Covid Affected Livelihood Scheme and Angang gi Tengbang for Chandel and Tengnoupal districts.
Delivering the key note speech, District and Sessions Judge Imphal West cum DLSA Chandel chairman A Gunesh-war said that the pandemic has heavily impacted the daily wage earners, as well as the children.
As such, the schemes were launched in their interest, he added.
Speaking as resource person, advocate Ch Momon explained how to avail the benefits of schemes including the registration purpose.
On the other hand, DLSA Bishnupur organised an online discussion programme on "Beneficial scheme for victims of Covid-19 pandemic and role of legal services functionaries" for PLVs and panel lawyers on Monday.
District and Sessions Judge cum chairman of DLSA Bishnupur W Tonen, advocate Ch Momon, Social Welfare Department programme officer Mala Lisham attended as panel members, while JMFC cum Civil Judge Junior Division Bishnupur Margaret Niangsiamkim moderated the programme.
Another one-day online legal awareness cum interaction programme for CSOs of Senapati and Kangpokpi districts, panel lawyers, PLV and police personnel was organised by District Legal Services Authority, Senapati along with Community Network for Empowerment (CoNE).
During the discourse, CoNE president Nalinikanta Rajkumar spoke as a resource person on the topic "criminalization of drug users a threat to health and social development".
In his speech, he touched upon the increasi ng rate of availability and use of drugs in the state and stressed the need for preventing substance abuse among students, youths and in general the whole society.
The virtual event was also attended by DLSA Senapati chairman Samom Bijen, secretary A Tarunakumari, additional public prosecutor of district and sessions court Senapati Koshia Mao, JMFC Kangpokpi Ningombam Sofiarani, police officers, retainer lawyers, front office DLSA Senapati, panel lawyers and PLVs.
