Imphal, March 26 2026: The Palem Panthoi Cultural Trust (PPCT), Langjing Achouba, organised a two-day Indo-Bangla International Seminar at the Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) Auditorium to mark World Theatre Day.

The event commenced today and included the presentation of the "Salam Ibemcha & Irabot Ningshing Mana 2026" award to renowned artiste Aribam Raseswori Devi, in a gesture of respect and recognition.

The inaugural function was graced by dignitaries, including Dr Elangbam Amit Kumar Singh, proprietor of Lamyanba Enterprises; Budha Chingtham, president of PPCT and Member, Board of Governors, EZCC; RK Nayansana Devi, eminent writer; and Labuktongbam Bhubaneshwari Devi, Top Grade Artiste of AIR Imphal.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Salam Shantibala, secretary of PPCT, stated that the trust was established with the vision of promoting Manipuri Theatre, Art & Culture.

Dr Amitkumar urged the State Government to establish international awards in the field of theatre in the names of icons like Guru Ratan Thiyam and Guru Heisnam Kanhailal.

He lamented the unfortunate conditions faced by many of the State's notable artists and emphasized the need for collective respect for their invaluable contributions to the State's global recognition.
