Imphal, November 25 2013:
Even though the Councillors of Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) are keeping their words to boycott the ongoing Sangai Festival, some IMC workers engaged in cleaning Hapta Kangjeibung have resumed duty following repeated requests from the officials of State Tourism Department.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, the Councillors poured out their grievances and decried the highhanded attitude of the organizers of Sangai Festival.
They said that a memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister regarding the issue.
Consequently, the Chief Minister reportedly reprimanded the Parliamentary Secretary, Principal Secretary and Director of Tourism Department.
The tourism officials have also admitted to have made some mistakes while organizing the festival and they have been requesting the IMC to resume work for Sangai Festival.
Some workers resumed duty, but the Councillors would stick to their stance until and unless the organizers make an appropriate clarification on the matter, the Councillors said.
