Film Appreciation Course concludes at MSFTI

Imphal, August 01 2026: The 3rd Film Appreciation Course jointly organised by Manipur State Film and Television Institute (MSFTI) and International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) - India concluded today.

The 20-day course, which began on August 6, was attended by 40 participants from across the State.

The valedictory function was held at Khamba Hall, Hotel Castle, Palace Compound.

Naorem Praveen Singh, Secretary, Art & Culture, Manipur, Angom Shijalembi Chanu, Director, MSFTI, Premendra Mazumder, Secretary, FIPRESCI-India and Meghachandra Kongbam, Executive Member, FIPRESCI-India, graced the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Praveen Singh said MSFTI is striving to introduce diverse courses to promote film education in the State.

He noted that the Appreciation Course plays a vital role in providing indepth knowledge of cinema, but manpower and financial constraints have hindered full implementation of its plans.

Angom Shijalembi Chanu announced that MSFTI plans to launch a one-year PG Diploma course in Filmmaking from the next academic session.

Short-term courses on short film making, mobile film making and sound design are also in the pipeline, she added.

She expressed confidence that such initiatives will give a major boost to Manipuri cinema.

Filmmakers Haobam Paban Kumar, Brajesh Khoyumthem, Yoimayai Mongsaba and Bobo Wahengbam took part as local resource persons.

Borun Thokchom, Ajit Yumnam, Sonia Nepram, Dr Meena Longjam and Parshuram Thingnam shared insights on their award-winning films during the course.
