International Day of Yoga observed

The 12th International Day of Yoga was observed with enthusiasm across Imphal on Sunday under the theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing".
At Manipur Police Training College, Pangei, the programme was attended by Sorokhaibam Gautam Singh, Deputy Director and i/c Director, MPTC, along with Assistant Directors, Gazetted Officers, staff, and trainees undergoing in-service courses.
In his address, Gautam Singh highlighted yoga as an invaluable practice for achieving harmony between mind and body and promoting holistic health.
He said the observance aims to raise awareness about yoga's role in physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle.
A total of 150 participants performed yogic postures, breathing exercises, and meditation, pledging to integrate yoga into daily life for better health and discipline.
Separately, the Kongpal Chanam Leikai Development Organisation (KCDO), in collaboration with MY Bharat, Sports Authority of India, and Youth Hostel Association of India, organised a celebration at Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak, Imphal.
Prof Maibam Nodiyachand Singh attended as chief guest, Th Rajendra Singh as guest of honour, and Princi Gupta, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat, Imphal East, as special invitee.
The dignitaries highlighted yoga's role in physical fitness, mental well-being, and healthy aging.
A Common Yoga Protocol session saw enthusiastic participation from youth and residents.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks and a collective pledge to adopt yoga for a healthier, harmonious society.
