AR distributes sports items to youths in Ukhrul

Imphal, June 23 2025: With the football season bringing renewed energy across the hills of Manipur, Assam Rifles reached out to the spirited youth of Poi village in Ukhrul District by distributing sports items including footballs, volleyballs, and nets.

According to a release issued by the IGAR (South), the initiative aimed to nurture sporting talent, encourage healthy recreation, and strengthen community bonds through a shared love for the game.

The effort came in response to a request from the village headmen and youth president, who sought support to build a culture of sportsmanship among the youth of Poi and neighbouring villages.

Recognising the region's deep-rooted passion for football, a game that unites villages and brings entire communities to the playground, Assam Rifles stepped forward to fulfill the aspiration of the youth.

The villagers expressed sincere gratitude to Assam Rifles for standing beside them, not just as sentinels of security, but as partners in progress and guardians of local aspirations.
