AR launches skill development initiatives

In a bid to promote self-reliance, skill development and community empowerment, the Assam Rifles has undertaken a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing the capabilities of youth and women across various districts of Manipur.
As part of its grassroots development efforts, the Assam Rifles has been conducting a five-month Agniveer Pre-Recruitment Training Programme since April 2026 across valley and border villages of Kakching and Chandel districts.
According to IGAR (South), the programme, designed for aspiring candidates from the two districts, aims to prepare local youth for recruitment into the Indian Armed Forces.
Assam Rifles personnel have been providing training in physical fitness, endurance runs, entrance examinations, obstacle training, documentation and recruitment procedures to improve the confidence and overall preparedness of the candidates.
The trainees expressed their appreciation to Assam Rifles personnel for providing professional guidance and motivational support to build their performance and confidence.
Simultaneously, reinforcing women empowerment, the Assam Rifles successfully concluded a three-month Weaving and Yarning Training Programme in Churachandpur district on June 22 .
Running since March 26, 2026, the initiative provided hands-on training to 15 local women under expert guidance to promote sustainable livelihoods and financial independence During the concluding programme, Assam Rifles personnel interacted with the participants and encouraged them to utilise the acquired skills for improving their family income and economic well-being.
