Imphal, March 22 2010: For the second time, MPP president Dr Nimaichand Luwang has submitted a memorandum to the Governor exerting pressure for removal of Works Minister K Ranjit and Tribal Development Minister DD Thaisii for their involvement in the incident of shooting at Advocate General N Koteshwar and for giving the prosecution sanction not only against the two Ministers but also against Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh.

A five-member delegation of MPP led by its president Dr Nimaichand Luwang today called on Governor Gurbachan Jagat at the Raj Bhavan here at around 11.30 am today and submitted the second memorandum.

The memorandum was signed by Dr Luwang.

Talking to mediapersons at the party office after meeting the Governor, Dr Luwang said that the March 6 incident of causing injuries to Advocate General Koteshwar by a bullet fired from the gun of a Minister was the first of its kind in the history of Manipur.

MPP strongly condemned the incident which has also lowered the image of Manipur in front of other States, he contended.

Dr Luwang further said that the two Ministers who were involved in the incident should resign from their respective posts on moral grown.

In case, they fail to resign, then the Chief Minister would remove them from his Council of Ministers as an exemplary action to ensure such incidents are not repeated in the future.

Charging the Chief Minister with protecting the guilty Ministers, the MPP president asserted that covering up the truth of the matter and trying to mislead the people is tantamount to indirect involvement in the incident.

So, an inquiry into the incident should be instituted and the two Ministers would be removed from the Ministry so as to facilitate the police to investigate against the two Ministers.

Dr Luwang informed the Governor had also given his assurance on taking up appropriate action in connection with the incident.

He also pointed out that the cease work strike of the JAC of the Government employees in pursuance of their demand for implementation of Central 6th Pay Commission in toto has caused lot of inconveniences to the people.

So it would be advisable on the part of the Government to bring about an amicable solution with the striking employees at the earliest possible.

Maintaining that MPP has been remaining vigilant to ensure that the boundary of Manipur is not affected in the border fencing, Dr Luwang assured that the matter would be brought to the notice of the Government of India after a team of his party inspected the site very soon.
