Kuki Inpi to broker Naga hostages release from KNA-B

Kuki Inpi, Tengnoupal, and the Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday aimed at securing the safe release of two Naga army officers currently held bv the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) .
The MoU also addresses the safe release of Sheikhogin Baite, a core committee member of VV Tengnoupal, from the custody of the Naga army.
The agreement emphasised collaboration between the two parties to promote better understanding and peaceful coexistence between the Kuki and Naga peoples.
As part of the understanding, Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal has committed to making sincere efforts to secure the release of the two Naga army officers at the earliest.
In return, the CNPO will continue its efforts to foster better relations between the two communities.
The MoU represented a mutual effort to maintain meaningful dialogue and establish a conducive atmosphere for collaboration.
Both parties acknowledged their obligations under the agreement, with the CNPO fulfilling its part by ensuring the safe release of Sheikhogin Baite from Naga army custody.
The party that fails to honour the MOU in letter and spirit will be held responsible for any untoward consequences, the agreement added.
The MoU, signed by the presidents of both organisations, had signatures of Kuki Chiefs' Association Tengnoupal vice-president, Chandel Naga Chiefs' Association president, Hill Tribal Council Moreh president, and Kuki Women Union & Human Rights president as witnesses.
