BJP introduces schemes, implements none: Ibobi
BJP could go to hills freely as it begged to NSCN-IM: T Mangibabu

Imphal, December 20 2021: Though the BJP government has been introducing several schemes, none of the schemes are implemented in letter and spirit, contended Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Okram Ibobi.

Attending the 16th death an niversary of Akoijam Ibocha (Nupamacha), father of Patsoi MLA Ak Mirabai, held at Taobungkhok Awang Leikai ground on Monday, the former chief minister said that the BJP government introduces one scheme almost every day but whether those schemes have provided benefits to the public remains a big question.

It is not introduction of scheme that is important but implementing them, he stressed.

On the other hand, the then Congress government had taken up various developmental projects in the state and National Food Security Act is one such scheme of the Congress government which provides rice at Rs 3 per kg to the poor people.

MGNREGS is another flagship scheme introduced by Congress and the whole world is praising the scheme, he continued.

There are several differences between the ideologies of BJP and Congress, and the public know it well.

Congress party respects women and inclusion of elected women representatives in the cabinet is a stand and commitment of the party.

At the same time, Congress party also has high regard for minority communities, he said.

Ibobi further said that Patsoi AC is lucky to have a representative like Mirabai, who has commitment, dedication and sacrificial spirit.

The public need to support such individuals, he said and expressed confidence that people of the constituency will once again elect her in the 2022 state assembly election.

In her address, MLA Mirabai said that Patsoi AC remained a backward constituency for several years but fast pace development could be seen in the last 10 years.

Water supply schemes are being taken up by giving top priority in order to provide tap water connection to the entire constituency.

Road connectivity has improved significantly, she said.

Mirabai also informed that she is planning to bring out a report on development works taken up in the constituency since 2017 and future projects she is planning on.

The MLA presented blankets to all the participants of the event.

NFSA cards were also distributed to 11,995 beneficiaries of the constituency.

The first State Level Ibocha Memorial Under-14 Boys and Girls Hockey Tournament was inaugurated later on.

Meanwhile,.

MPCC working president T Mangibabu claimed that there had been good relation between hills and valley since early time but it was due to the revenge for obstructing Th Muivah from entering Manipur that former chief minister O Ibobi Singh was attacked while visiting hills.

He also contended that the present BJP led government could visit hills freely as they begged and bowed down to NSCN-IM.

T Mangibabu made this allegation during a one-day political conference organised by Wangkhei Block Congress Committee for intending INC candidate RK Priyobarta at Nongmeibung multipurpose hall on Monday.

Addressing the gathering, T Mangibabu said that former chief minister O Ibobi could not visit the hills freely as he obstructed NSCN-IM leader Th Muivah from entering Manipur and the outfit took revenge for the same.

The action initiated against O Ibobi, however, was not by hill people but by the armed organisation and this needs to be understood by the people, he said, adding that it would be wrong of the BJP-led government to consider threat as originating from public.

He further said that the present government led by the BJP could visit hills freely as they begged the NSCN-IM first but the nature of present government's hill visits indeed is shameful as 'Go to village' and 'Go to hills' programmes are conducted for namesake only.

Government should have earmarked fund in the state budget if it really wanted to bring development in the hills, he added.

According to T Mangibabu, the BJP led government's claim of improving law & order situation in the state during its tenure is questionable as it was in front of the chief minister himself that Athuan Abonmai was kidnapped and killed.

It was very unfortunate for the people that the state's administration was handed to CM Biren, he said and appealed to people to show their displeasure with BJP government in the up coming election.

INC intending candidate for Wangkhei AC RK Priyobarta, in his speech, said that the political conference was organised to bring free and fair election.

He then appealed to people of the constituency to make the upcoming election free from muscle and money power for the sake of bringing development in the constituency.

The political conference was also attended by MPCC general secretary L Tilotama, MPCC secretary M Ranjit and Mutum Sarma.
