Imphal, July 18 2009: Holding of any kinds of functions at Kangla hall located with the Kangla fort will be banned from July 20 onward as authority is planning to take up repairing and rejuvenation works of the hall shortly.

The repairing and rejuvenation works of the hall is to be taken up under the supervision of the state Archeology within the current year.

In connection with the work, holding of all kinds of function in the hall be banned from July 20, said P Bhorot, commissioner, state art and culture department today.

The works for rejuvenation and repairing is to be taken up without losing the original structures and model of the hall which is related with history and it's a part of beautification and rejuvenation works of the Kangla forth taken up by the Kangla Fort Board.

Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, the commissioner said that since the opening of the Kangla hall for public function, problems faced the effort of keeping clean the Kangla forth as people attending the functions and organizers used to throw waste anywhere they wish.

The state archeology department as well as Kangla Fort Board took it seriously.

Now, the question of taking more care in maintaining the forth come up.

With this reason behind, there is possibility of banning holding public function at Kangla hall, Bhorot hinted.

In the true sense, there should have restriction in entering the Kangla Forth.

While entering by a man aged ranging from children to elderly people, they should buy ticket costing Rs 2 and for children costing Re 1 .

Government could earn an income of Rs 1 lakh in a year from the tickets.

About Rs 3,000 can be collected from the tickets per day.
