Running coalition Govt not easy: CM
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, February 18 2022: The ruling BJP-led coalition government had faced many issues and not a day went by when tears were not shed, Chief Minister N Biren stated.

Speaking at a political conference organised by BJP Thangmeiband Mandal on Friday, CM Biren remarked that the 5-year long government was not without tears, as running a coalition government is not easy.

One could not remove ministers who were found indulging in corrupt practices, out of concern that the government could fair.

Thus, there is a need for a BJP-only government, he said and urged all to include Thangmeiband in the 40 winning seats.

He then invited the people to attend the PM's visit to the state on February 22.The CM continued: "Both Cheirao Ching and Marjing are included in a project, while discussion is on to develop the site of Maichou Taret.

BJP will surely win over 40 seats in the upcoming polls and this belief is derived from statistics.

"Good governance is making people happy.

If people are happy, the MLAs will be happy.

During my time in Congress, there were differences of opinions regarding the above.

There was visible disharmony between the hills and the valley.

However, I promised my constituents to address their grievances and that of the state and I lived up to the same after getting elected as the CM.

"Manipur is a civilized society with its own sense of decorum.

It is inhuman to force someone to kneel down just because one has the power to do so.

However, this political trend of subjugating the innocent people for their own interests is no longer in motion.

"Some have claimed that the government is only about lip-service, when in reality, all of the works undertaken by the government have been released in the party's booklet.

If the claim is true and the claimants can point out the so-called falsified points, then I am ready to resign from my post at that very moment with the booklet in my hand.

BJP is only stating that it has done what Congress was not able to do, not that the latter did not do what it had claimed to have done.

There are many projects which Congress failed to complete.

Meanwhile, misunderstandings are not uncommon.

It is my principle that one should live in dignity and refrain from doing anything bad.

There can be only an enemy or a friend, nothing in between.

For me, I don't mix with the in-betweens or it will be difficult for me to live or govern.

I have been able to work for the last 5 years all due to the blessings of the almighty", Biren contended.

Thangmeiband BJP candidate Jyotin Waikhom, who also attended the conference, said that the constituency has been caught in the politics of the opposition.

No development work has been successfully completed, while the propaganda is in full swing.

The turncoats have made it impossible for the constituency to breathe.

As such, Thangmeiband needs to be part of the ruling side this time, he said, while clarifying that BJP is not in alliance with JD(U).

Chief minister Biren also attended the flag hoisting ceremony of BJP candidate in Sugnu AC Mayanglambam Binod held at Kakching Khunou Hijam Angom Leikai on Friday.

With apparent reference to posers raised frequently by Congress about the works done by BJP in its five years of government, he said that the activities of BJP government have been vividly contained in its report card.

As such, Congress needs to analyse the report cards to get an insight on commitment and projects executed by the BJP government instead of making irrelevant claims.

He further said that as Congress doesnot have their agenda for the election; it is simply questioning activities of the BJP government.

Any party which does not appreciate good works should wiped out from the state, Biren continued, while highlighting the need to make BJP return to power in the election so as to ensure continuous developments of the state.

Stating that the MLA of Sugnu A/C who represented the constituency for more than twenty years could not bring development with exception of delivering lip service, Biren maintained that electing such person is the primary reason for the degeneration of Sugnu AC.

The flag hoisting ceremony was attended by Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba and other BJP leaders.
