Imphal, February 17 2026:
Hostellers of Manipur Muslim Girls' Hostel have appealed to Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand to facilitate the clearance of long-pending unpaid bills amounting to Rs 75 lakh for sub-contractors engaged in the construction of the hostel.
The hostel located at Minuthong Hafiz Hatta in Imphal East district was inaugurated in 2010 by Sonia Gandhi, the AICC president of that time.
Even though the hostel has been operational for more than 15 years, the sub-contractors' pending bills have remained unpaid.

According to one sub-contractor by the name of L Tomba, though the construction of the hostel was completed in 2010, the subcontractors were asked to work on new installation of fencing, doors, windows etc after a few years.
The cost of the second job was Rs 37 lakh.
With the remaining unpaid bills from the previous construction work, the total pending bills stands at Rs 75 lakh, he said.
Seeking the Chief Minister's intervention, the hostellers have called for prompt payment of the pending bills to the sub-contractors.
