CRPF pays tribute to martyr

Imphal, December 16 2024: 143 Battalion, CRPF, Lamphelpat organised a wreath laying ceremony today in honour of Saheed CT/GD H Punshi Singh of CRPF, who made the supreme sacrifice for the cause on the Nation on December 16, 1997 .

According to a release issued by CRPF, on December 14, 1997, 50 Bn of CRPF deployed in Bongaigaon district of Assam to counter the activities of insurgents, faced an ambush while returning from an operation.

During the heavy exchange of fire, five valiant troopers of CRPF including CT/GD H Punshi Singh sustained severe wounds and later succumbed to their injuries on December 16, 1997.On the occasion of 27th anniversary of Shaheed CT/GD H Punshi Singh, the wreath laying ceremony was held at Sardar Patel High School, Khurkhul to day to pay respect to the braveheart.

Ravinder Sharma Commandant, 143 BN CRPF accompanied by other officers of Unit and Jawans paid rich floral tributes and homage to the martyr in the presence of H Leiren Singh, brother of the martyr along with his family members.

Besides, Priyo Barta Singh, Headmaster; H Radha Devi and other teaching staff, students of the school, 4th IRB personnel, villagers and other eminent figures of the locality Were also present.

A photo frame of the martyr along with gifts were also presented to the martyr's family.

The Commandant, 143 BN CRPF further assured that the CRPF family is always ready to take care of the martyr family's needs in future.
