'COME LET leave our mean minded and bring a revolution in our society' called chairperson, Manipur Woman Commission, Ch Jamini Devi while stating that now is not the time to look down upon women by women.
Jamini speaking as chief guest at a one-day awareness programme on "Mikap Thongklo Nupi (wake up women)" held at Manipur Press Club, MajorKhul today said that to bring a change will not be possible by only some women, it's the common effort that will bring a change to the status of the women in a society.
It is not only the men-folk that look down upon the women.
There have a lot of faults of the women.
Women also look down women, she went on to observed.
While talking on the practical experience she is facing as a chairperson of the women commission, Jamini said when commission investigated into complaints on domestic violence, women have been found behind it in most of the cases.
Women need to be broad minded, she observed while stating that there have the place for making complains but its not the place to receive only the women.
"Now time has come the women to leave mean mindedness," Jamini said while calling upon this section of the society to wake up and bring upward the status of the women in the society.
The awareness programme organized by All Manipur Nupi Marup was presided its president by Y Ibeni and member of the state women commission, Lalcha Begum and Lingjamei Gangte graced as guest of honuors.
In the technical session of the programme many resource persons talked on various subjects.
Avocate B Supriya talked on the "women and law", dr M Nara on "Women and health" retired DM College lecturer Dr Ch Shilaramani on "Women and education" while A Kameshwori, SDO, social welfare department talked on "Women and welfare measures".
