Oriental College hosts electoral sensitisation on SIR-2026

Imphal, June 15 2026:
The Electoral Literacy Club of Oriental College, Imphal, in collaboration with the IQAC and Manipur Innovation Society, organised a 1-Day Electoral Sensitisation Programme on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll of Manipur-2026 at the College Conference Hall today.
The programme aimed to build awareness among students, faculty, and the community on electoral literacy, voter participation, and the ongoing SIR process.
Tongbram Tejkumar, president, Manipur Innovation Society, attended as chief guest, while Principal Prof S Ranjit Singh presided.
IQAC coordinator Kongkham Biplob Singha was guest of honour.
Welcoming the gathering, Asst Prof Ch Promoda Devi underlined the role of electoral awareness in a vibrant democracy.
In her keynote, M Janeshwari Devi, Head, Department of Political Science, stressed that educational institutions must foster voter consciousness.
In a special session, Kongkham Biplob Singha explained SIR objectives, procedures, and benefits, noting that accurate, inclusive rolls ensure the genuine mandate of voters.
Tongbram Tejkumar urged informed participation and guided attendees on registration and correction of electoral details.
Dr S Ranjit Singh lauded the organisers and called on students to act as ambassadors of electoral awareness.
