CRE programme held

A 2-day Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) programme on "Community Based Rehabilitation and Advocacy in the field of Disability" has kicked off at SAI Regional Centre, Takyel yesterday.
The programme is being organised by the Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities, Regional Centre Kolkata and Spastic Society of Manipur.
At the event, Spastic Society of Manipur secretary Laishram Tokendra Ricky said that the CRE is a programme that helps rehabilitation professionals update their knowledge and skills.
He said the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) supports CRE programmes to ensure that professionals can provide quality services to people with disabilities.
He said unqualified persons running disability and therapy clinics are against the law and they may be punished legally.
UDID certificate holders who are deaf can approach Spastic Society of Manipur office at Langthabal Kunja Tapokpi Bazar till November 14 to avail hearing aids for free, he added.
