Malem Thongam's cycling for peace campaign reaches Pallel

Thoubal, March 13 2026: Malem Thongam, a transgender activist undertaking a bicycle rally to promote peace and restore harmony in Manipur, reached Pallel today as part of her ongoing journey across the State.

The cycle rally which aims to cover all 16 districts of Manipur, was flagged off yesterday from Lamangdong Keithel in Bishnupur district.

Members of Kakching Keithel and Apunba Ima Lup warmly received Malem Thongam upon her arrival at Kakching Keithel.

After the brief reception, she was flagged off again for the next leg of her journey.

Malem Thongam said the rally covering all 16 districts was launched in response to the failure of both the State and Central Governments to bring an amicable solution to the ongoing Meitei-Kuki conflict, which had continued for over two and a half years.

Through the campaign, she aims to spread a message of peace and harmony among the communities of Manipur.

She also appealed to people from all communities to extend their support and help make the campaign a success.
