15-day Khongjom Parba workshop concludes

A 15-day workshop-cum-production on "Khongjom Parba Moirang Kangleirol Khamba Pokpa" concluded today at Tentha Khongbal Multiplex in Thoubal district.
The workshop, which commenced on July 27, was organised by the Maibam Tomba Kanglei Mashak Mangai Charitable Trust, Keishamthong Maning Irom Pukhri Mapal, under the Chief Minister-gi Artist-sigi Tengbang (CMAT) scheme of the Art and Culture Department, Government of Manipur.
Former Art and Culture Minister Dr Moirangthem Nara Singh attended the valedictory function as chief guest, while retired professor of Kakching Khunou College Ningthou Naoria presided over the function.
State Kala Academy awardee Y Angangyaima Singh attended as guest of honour.
During the programme, the dignitaries and participants paid floral tributes to the portrait of late Maibam Tomba Singh, a noted mentor and gum who played a significant role in promoting and preserving Manipuri traditional folk songs.
Appreciation certificates were also distributed to the participating artistes in recognition of their involvement in the workshop and as an encouragement to continue contributing towards the preservation and promotion of the traditional art form.
