MoS Defence visits Kamjong, meets with DIOs, SHGs

In a historic visit, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth arrived in Kamjong district on Wednesday for a two-day sojourn.
Upon his arrival at the Kamjong SDO complex, the Union Minister was welcomed by Phungyar MLA Leishiyo Keishing, Kamjong deputy commissioner (DC) Rang Peter Rangnamei, SDO Jain Huileng, ADC CEO David Kashungnao, SDO Nimmi Khamrang, SP Ningshem Vashum, and other officials of the district administration.
The Union Minister was accompanied by Additional PS Jitendra Nath and PA to MoS Rahul Sharma.
In a brief reception, MLA Leishiyo Keishing presented Seth with a tradition Tangkhul shawl 'Haora' .
On the first day of his visit, the Union Minister met with the district's DLOs and SHGs.
In the first session, DLOs from 26 departments attended and shared their progress with the minister.
A proposal was also presented for creation of border village K Ashang Khullen as a model village.
During the second conference, representatives from 35 Kamjong-based SHGs participated, voicing their concerns about the implementation of PM schemes due to insufficient banking facilities at the district headquarters.
Union Minister Sanjay Seth will stay overnight at Kamjong district headquarters and on the second day, he is expected to meet with representatives of local CSOs.
Although the agenda for the meeting with the CSOs has not been revealed, it holds significance given the prevailing tensions surrounding the scrapping of FMR and border fencing.
He will also visit some nearby sites before he departs for Imphal.
As per reliable sources, the Union Minister's visit aligns with the Prime Minister's directive, as proposed by DoNER, for Union Ministers and MoS to visit North Eastern states each month.
