Imphal, August 08 2026:
Oriental College (Autonomous), Takyel, observed its 63rd Foundation Day on Saturday at its Conference Hall, marking a milestone as Manipur's first autonomous college to have completed three cycles of NAAC assessment.
The celebration was part of a series of academic initiatives undertaken for the academic session 2026-27.Led by its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the College had organised a Student Induction Programme (SIP) for newly admitted BA and BSc 1st Semester students on July 18 at the College Indoor Stadium.
The programme aimed to familiarise students with the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) under NEP 2020, its curricular structure, programme objectives and institutional practices.
The general SIP was followed by departmental induction programmes and fortnight-long Bridge Classes across its seven Arts and six Science departments.
The classes were designed to assess foundational knowledge and facilitate transition from school to undergraduate level by strengthening basic conceptual aspects of major and minor disciplines.
A key feature of the Foundation Day programme was the distribution of Institutional Meritorious Free-ship Awards to 15 deserving students from the 2025-26 and 2026-27 academic sessions, reaffirming the college's commitment to academic excellence.
