Trainees at the Manipur Guard Training Centre in Utlou, Bishnupur district, received hands-on training in fire prevention and emergency response during a fire safety awareness programme held on Monday.
The programme was jointly organised by the Manipur Fire Service, Government of Manipur, and Manipur Guard Services Private Limited.
Fire service personnel conducted live demonstrations and practical sessions, equipping trainees with precautionary measures and response techniques to tackle fire incidents effectively.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Wahengbam Rorrkychand Singh, Director of Manipur Guard Services Private Limited, said the company was established to generate employment for unemployed youths and to create a pool of trained security personnel for the State.
He noted that Manipur Guard has so far trained 220 individuals and successfully facilitated job placements for many of them at various locations across Manipur.
The awareness session was part of the ongoing 10-day residential training programme at the centre.
A total of 21 trainees - 13 male and 8 female - are currently undergoing the course.
The initiative aimed to ensure that security personnel are not only skilled in guarding duties but also prepared to respond promptly during fire emergencies, enhancing overall community safety.
