Like to serve Manipur as an IAS officer: Rammawii

Imphal, May 08 2012: Even though she was not satisfied with the result of the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2012, Ann Rammawii Haokip still want to serve her motherland, Manipur as an IAS officer.

Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao on the phone from Hyderabad, Ann Rammawii Haokip said that she was glad that she could clear the UPSC examinations.

However, she was not satisfied with the outcome and will give another exam for IAS.

If she got IAS this year, she will be much delighted, she added.

With an aim to become a medical practitioner Ann was thinking of appearing for MBBS entrance test after completing 10+2, when her family members advised her to try for UPSC exams saying that only then she can bring a change in the system.

Ann Rammawii Haokip is the youngest daughter of Rev Paothang Haokip and Ruby Haokip of Sita Village, Chandel District.

She began her study in Pune where she studied upto class 2 in St Helena's School.

She changed her school many a time during her high school career.

She passed matric with 89.5 percent from Siva Sivani Public School, Hyderabad.

For 10+2, she passed with 96.1 percent from Loyola Academy Junior College, Hyderabad.

She completed her graduation from Lady Shri Ram College of Women, under University of Delhi in 2010 in Psychology with 73.4 percvent of marks.

She had also attended a Six Week Exchange Student Program in National University of Singapore.

Besides, Rammawii earned the achievement of Meritorious .

Contribution in Western Music Award.

During her 10+2 stint, she was also honoured with the Best Student (Female) Award.

She had also served as a Secretary of the College of Western Music Society during her graduation.

Father of Rammawii, Paothang Haokip, who is a pastor at Good Shepherd Church, Hyderabad told Hueiyen Lanpao that her daughter has evolved a person from mixing with different types of people and gained knowledge from all these since his family had to move from one place to another on account of his work.

They had spent four years in Nagaland, five in Pune, five in Bangalore and 10 years in Hyderabad.

He felt very elated on hearing that his 22-year old daughter passed the UPSC Civil Services Examinations, he said.

The proud father further informed that among three aspirants including three male candidates, from the Haokip clans of Manipur, her daughter is the only candidate who clears the examination.

He also expressed gratitude to the state government for the financial support of Rs 1 lakh given to his daughter in connection with preparing for the exam.
