Governor visits Chandel; CNPO submits memorandum

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, on Wednesday, visited border district Chandel and reviewed overall law and order and administrative developments in the district.
At the district headquarters, the Governor was accorded a warm welcome by the Chandel deputy commissioner, SP and DLOs.
As per a release by PRO Raj Bhavan, the Governor inaugurated District Library, Chandel and Information Technology Centre at the district headquarters.
Later, the Governor chaired a review meeting at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner's office where he comprehensibly assessed various developmental initiatives including centrally sponsored schemes taken up in the district.
Chandel DC L Nandakumar Singh along with other district level officers (DLOs) gave a detailed presentation on various developmental programmes which are being taken up for the welfare of the people in the district.
Chandel SP Babitarani Swain also highlighted the various security measures which have been put in place to maintain law and order and other security related issues in the district.
The Governor then directed the officials to work to ensure maximum benefits be delivered to the people, it added.
The release also said that the Governor interacted with civil society organisations and heard their grievances.
Meanwhile, Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) submitted a memorandum to the Governor praying for implementation and upgrade of various developmental works and infrastructure in Chandel district.
The memorandum signed by CNPO president D Thamdok Francis and general secretary SH Kalenchung, drew the Governor's attention and consideration on issues that need immediate development and implementation.
The memorandum proposed establishment of a functional blood bank, specialist doctors for medicine, orthopaedic, eye, IHTM (blood bank specialist), 2nd floor 100-bedded rooms and proper and hygiene maintenance at District Hospital, Chandel; construction of a proper and standard FCS warehouse for food security; 100 per cent implementation of JJM Project; establishment and implementation of eco-tourism activities; preserve, protect and promote the Chakpi river and extend support for Chakpi Festival, which will highlight the significance of the Chakpi river, promoting its conservation, sustainable use, showcase rich cultural and traditional customs and practices, raising awareness about environmental protection, cross-cultural exchange and community development.
