Workshop on "Rites-de-passage of Sanamahism" kicks off

Imphal, November 06 2025: A 15-day workshop on "Rites-de-passage of Sanamahism" organised by the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) in collaboration with Manipur University of Culture (MUC) began today at Lainingthou Sanamahi Sanglen, Haying Khongban Uphong Yumpham, Imphal.

The inaugural function was graced by Prof Paonam Gunindro, Vice Chancellor, MUC; Vidyapati Senjam, vice president, LSTB; Laishram Radhakanta, Registrar, MUC; LSTB board members Keisham Ibomcha and Namoijam Tomba aspresidium members.

The function began with a prayer to "Ima Leimarel Sidabi and Lainingthou Sanamahi" followed by a welcome address by Maisnam Shivadutta Luwang, member secretary, LSTB .

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Gunindro emphasized on the significance of organising such workshops in sensitizing the people about the rituals & traditions of Sanamahi faith.

Stressing on the need to preserve the true essence of the rites of passage, he encouraged youths to participate in the workshop which will focus on the rituals/practices and professions in Sanamahi religion concerned with Pokpa (birth), Luhongba (marriage) and Korou Nonggaba (death) .
