Govt urged to look into plight of flood affected artisans

The government and department concerned must look into the plight of artisans, who have been affected by the flood with all their handicraft products damaged, Crafts Development Promoters Organisation Reed Handicrafts and Honey Cluster chief promoter Sanabam Bocha has said.
Speaking to media persons while showing them the flood damaged training cum production centre of the cluster at Ningomthong Kitna Panung on Saturday, S Bocha stated that the centre was honoured by Union Ministry of MSME and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu in 2021 as the best cluster in Northeastern states.
He bemoaned that the flood has heavily damaged the centre as the machines, tools and products made by artisans and by trainees have gone under water.
Informing that about 1500 people are employed u'nder the cluster, Bocha said that till now the flood water has not receded from the centre, which is hurting the artisans even more.
He appealed to the government and department concerned to address the predicament being faced by the centre and its artisans.
