NRC holds discussion on "States' Position in Indian Federal Structure"

The National Research Centre (NRC), Manipur organised a one-day discussion on "From Government of India Act, 1935 to the Constitution of India Act, 1950: Revisiting States' Position" today at its office in Canchipur.
Former Acting Chairperson of Manipur Human Rights Commission and Senior Advocate Khaidem Mani, NRC president Thongam Ajit, and Manipur University Law HoD Prof Y Premananda attended as presidium members.
Symbiosis Law School, Pune Assistant Prof Laishram Malem Mangal and Dhanamanjuri University Associate Prof Dr Arambam Noni participated as resource persons.
Speaking on the occasion, NRC advisor Sanasam Sunilkanta said the position of States within India's federal structure appears to be weakening.
He added that Manipur faces similar concerns along with multiple challenges from various fronts.
The discussion, he noted, was convened to revisit the transition from the 1935 Act to the 1950 Constitution with scholars and academicians to generate informed discourse and possible solutions.
